There is a new summer camp available here in Hyde Park, offered by the Chicago Free School. It’s based out of the classrooms at KAM Isaiah Israel, at Greenwood and Hyde Park Blvd. Please see the attached a flyer.
The camp is open to campers pre-K to 8th grade. (All campers must be able to use the toilet independently.) Since many families scramble to find affordable care options for their kids in the summer, this news may come as a relief. Notably, pre-K campers are accepted, and the camp has a sliding scale for camp fees based on family income.
Although this is the first year that the summer camp is being offered, the Chicago Free School philosophy and curriculum parallels the UU Seven Principles in many ways. FirstU families may find that the Chicago Free School is a comfortable home for school or summer camp.
