September 16 – How do I know I have a blind spot if I can’t see it?

Rev. Teri

Every driver has a blind spot. And every human eye has a blind spot: It is the location of the optic nerve on the retina of the eye. Yet, we go through our days never seeing it Our brains and habits knit together a cohesive image of our world – and our worldviews. Yet, science easily demonstrates that our physical vision is fallible, as are our social constructs and assumptions. Inherent in the idea of Universalism is an acknowledgement of our blind spots, and a commitment to find a broader view.
