Chicago Fair Trade – May 14

Join us on Saturday, May 14, as Chicago Fair Trade highlights handmade products from Guatemala, Kenya, Tanzania, Kyrgyzstan, Ghana, and Haiti at a Fair Trade Market.

Each May, World Fair Trade Day is celebrated by tens of thousands of people in dozens of countries. Over the last 15 years, our own Cindy Pardo participated in many chilly outdoor events sponsored by Chicago Fair Trade to recognize this special day. This year, the celebration will take place in neighborhoods around the city and its theme, “putting fair trade on the map,” brings the focus back to our own neighborhood where Cindy made her mark opening a fair trade store with her friends Madieria and Evelyn.

Location:  University Church, 5655 S. University Ave. from 11:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m. More at chicagofairtrade.org.
