Rally: #EndMoneyBail in Cook County
08/18/2018 Saturday 10:00 am-11:00 am
It has been almost one year since General Order 18.8A was issued by Cook County’s Chief Judge. The Order, which went into effect on September 18, 2017, states that no person should be incarcerated in Cook County Jail (CCJ) simply because they can’t afford to pay a money bail. Despite an initial decrease in the number of people incarcerated at CCJ, around 2,500 people still remain locked up inside CCJ because they can’t pay their money bail.
Join the Coalition to End Money Bond, allies from across Cook County, and bond funds from around the country this Saturday morning in Daley Plaza to demand full implementation of the order and an end to pretrial incarceration. Help us hold Cook County bond courts accountable and bring our people home!
