We are volunteering at La Tiendita Store at the Coppin Community Center one Saturday each month from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. We are also collecting items for the store, which has a significant need for kitchen goods and baby goods. Donations can be dropped off the church’s Community Meal on the second Wednesday of the month. Items collected will be taken to the La Tiendita Store on Saturday.
The Coppin Community Center is a social-service nonprofit at Coppin Memorial AME Church in the Washington Park neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side. Its vision is a healthy, safe, empowered community. Its mission is to develop youth, support adults and transform the quality of life for all people. It runs food and meal programs, and hosts youth and family programs such as the Boys & Girls Club.
La Tiendita officially opened to the public, distributing donated clothing, household items and hygiene products free of charge.
