Passing Of Aidan Swenson

It is with the deepest sadness that we share the passing of Aidan Swenson-Reynolds, son of First Unitarian member, Brigitte Swenson at the age of 16. During the night of Saturday, June 17, 2023, Aidan suddenly became very ill while he and Brigitte stopped to rest for the night in St. Louis, MO while on their trip from Chicago to Tulsa, OK for a national tumbling competition. He died from an unknown brain infection on Thursday afternoon, June 22, 2023, at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.

Aidan attended Murray Language Academy until he was in the 6th grade. He attended Lindblom High School and was a rising senior planning to also play with his school’s Advanced Band for his final year of high school. His mother writes, ‟Aidan was a competitive tumbler and played clarinet in Lindblom High School’s Advanced Band, both of which gave him a great sense of pride and accomplishment. If you’ve ever seen him do a tumbling pass, then you’ve seen him in his happiest place.”

He wanted to be a nurse or a psychologist and had plans and dreams to travel. Adopted from Guatemala at the age of one, his goal was to travel to Central and South America to connect and learn more about the region of the world where he was born. This summer he had also planned a special trip to the Dominican Republic.

He was the beloved son of Brigitte Swenson and Michelle Reynolds, loving brother of Emilee; cherished grandson of Patrick (late Linda) Reynolds; late Judith Reynolds; Ron and Rebela Swenson; great grandson of Ed and Ann Jabczynski; dear nephew of Patrick (Deb) Reynolds, Nicole (Darren) Gall, Natalie (Travis) Becker and Nicole Rousseau; fond cousin of Kelsi, Blake, Carson, Lauren, Ryan, August, Tatum, Rowan, Knox, Gigi, Nowa; many second and third cousins; and great friend to many.
