Return to In-Person Services – Sunday, February 13

The Board of Trustees has been monitoring the COVID-19 Dashboard for Chicago in order to assess the risk of holding in-person services and events on the church property. As of February 5, the COVID dashboard shows that Chicago is no longer at the Severe risk level. Accordingly, the Board has determined that we may resume in-person Sunday services as of February 13.

The risk level is still Very High; new cases, hospitalizations, and deaths have all fallen, but our responsibility to our members and greater community means we need to take steps to lower transmission rates to avoid another wave. Therefore, masks must be worn indoors at service and events at First U, and social distancing must be in full effect (six feet between family groups). We will be holding a social hour with distancing rather than a coffee hour.

Vaccination cards will be required for entry into Sunday service. Cards must show that attendees have received at least two shots, and that two weeks must have passed since the last shot.

Services will still be shared via Zoom, and we ask that anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 or with known exposure participate at home.

Thank you for your patience and co-operation as we progress through this challenging time together.
