The Chicago Children’s Choir was founded at our church in 1957, to unite children of diverse racial and socioeconomic status in a love of music. This group has become one of the cultural stars of Chicago and the nation.

First U’s support of the CCC is ongoing. A A neighborhood CCC group meets here. Members of First U host a table at the annual Red Jacket Optional Gala fundraiser.

The CCC celebrates its birthday each year at a First U church service in October. The celebration includes alumni from the early days of the choir, parents, and children who are currently singing in it. The legacy continues!
